I remember my Grandma, she always had a shiny brass box in the lounge. When us grandkids visited we were able to lift the lid which was quite heavy and choose a lolly. There were so many kinds, shiny paper covered ones, chocolates with sticky centres, hard round boiled sweets, blackballs and raspberries, squashy jubes and large white oddfellows. It was always hard to choose which one I would have...but nearly always I would pick the layered brightly coloured liquorice allsorts.
